Forest School Wales (FSW) Membership is relevant to anyone committed to the development and delivery of high quality Forest School in Wales.
Whether you are a FSL, Assistant or a volunteer, a Trainee seeking help with completion or a member of a group looking to set up a Forest School, becoming a member of FSW will benefit you by providing support, advice, networking and professional development.
FSW is a Charitable Company Limited by Guarantee. We seek grant funding in order to develop projects, and rely on our Members’ subscriptions to cover core costs and Members Services. The more members we have, the more services we can provide you with.

Membership costs £25 per year, for which you will receive:
- Access to training and skillshare events (either reduced rate or free)
- Opportunities to elect or become a regional representative or trustee and shape our organisation
- Access to a reduced rate Insurance package (individual practitioners) with JLT
- An email “Newsletter” of recent updates and information about grants, legislation, etc.
- Opportunity to promote your services on the FSW website (map / list /database)
- Advice and support from trustees
- Details held on database, so our admin assistant can put people in touch with each other; cross referenced by region and client group
And through the Members’ Pages on our website:
- Regular electronic updates and information about training, funding, legislation and research
- Access to documents and Resources including:
- Policy & Procedures Handbook
- recommended suppliers and products
- Training resources developed from our Continuing Professional Development programmes including Environmental Impact Assessment; Management Planning for Forest School sites; Woodcraft Skills
- Advice from our experienced Trustees
- Updates from national and regional bodies such as Woodlands for Learning Forum, FS Training Network and FEI.
- Opportunities to comment on national issues affecting learning and play in the outdoors, and to influence future policy
Current plans include:
- A group FSW membership rate for organisations
- Other web services including possibly a photo gallery and forum
- FSW is in the middle of agreeing a reduced rate Group Insurance Package, hopefully to be launched summer 2009
- A national Register of Forest School Leaders in Wales.
- CPD training for practitioners working with Special Needs groups; a preliminary audit of capacity has been carried out.
